WHAT WE DO

The Four Seas College of Bible and Mission has actively served the Church in Asia for 52 years through the teaching and training of Christians who have graduated to become preachers, evangelists, church ministry leaders, Sunday School teachers, and more.

Since January 1, 2019, the college has transitioned from being under a board of directors to being under the oversight of a local congregation, Jurong church of Christ. This local eldership and faithful congregation have been partners with the purpose and objectives of Four Seas for many years, and this most recent partnership will provide stability and support to the College without compromising any of the operations or programs.

Our over 200 graduates serve and have served in countries across Asia including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka.

HOW WE BEGAN

Conceptualised by the late Bro Ira Y. Rice Jr. in the early 1960s as a Bible training institution to serve the Church in Asia, Four Seas College was established through the pioneering work of Bro Pence Dacus and other brethrens in January 1965. Based in the city-state of Singapore, the College was originally named Malaysia Christian College but was later renamed to Four Seas College of Bible and Missions following Singapore’s separation from Malaysia to become a sovereign state in 1965.

The selection of Singapore as a location for the establishment of Four Seas College was a natural choice given the multi-racial and multi-lingual environment where people from practically “every nation under heaven” could be found. With a strong base of Christian teaching here, a center of Christian influence could be created – leading to the evangelisation of the Asian region.

The name Four Seas College of Bible and Missions was inspired by the Chinese proverb, “四海之内皆兄弟” which translates to “Within the four seas, all men are brothers.” We believe that through the Great Commission given by our Lord Jesus Christ that seeks to “make disciples of all nations”, all men can indeed be united through the Gospel of Peace.
